One of the most famous magicians of medieval Europe, an outstanding astrologer. German and English sources say that Faust studied magic at the University of Krakow. This is denied by Henryk Barycz in his work “An angry and rebellious historian”. In those years, magic was practiced in almost all public schools in Europe, and the Krakow university was considered famous in this field and attracted many foreign cabalists. Faust became the hero of many literary and musical works, such as “The Tragic History of Dr. Faust” or “Doktor Faust”. The most famous work about this alchemist is by Goethe, which he wrote during his stay in Krakow, is called “Faust”.
