Igołomia is a village located about 25 km east of Krakow. It became famous for the archaeological discoveries carried out in its area. In 1930, the first pottery furnaces were discovered here, and a dozen or so years later, dugouts, human graves and smoke-boxes, i.e. pig iron smelting furnaces.
In the village there are also such monuments as an 18th century palace with an archaeological museum, a 19th century smithy, a 14th century church, a 19th century brick belfry and an 18th century wooden presbytery.
