Mykwa

The mikvah is a large bathhouse located at the corner of Miodowa street 6 and  Dajwór street in Krakow. In the Kazimierz district there was another bathhouse near the square Nowy. In accordance with religious requirements, women of the Jewish faith were not allowed to participate in non-Jewish bathing places, as well as in the Vistula river- especially when the king was visiting Wawel. The ritual bath is located in the basement, which is descended by about forty steep stone steps.
