Polish Aviation Museum in Krakow

Explore the Polish aviation museum

The museum was established in 1964 and during the war, it was a part of one of the oldest airports in the world. Today, it still has some unique exhibits which survived the war. However, most of the machines were brought to the polish aviation museum in Krakow during the big Aviation Exhibition in 1964.

At the beginning the museum was situated in the four old hangars which were not designed for the purpose of exhibition. In 2010 a new, main building was opened. It is 11 meters high, three above ground and one underground floor. From the bird’s eye view it looks like a spinning disc and it’s one of the best high-tech buildings in Poland.

The whole complex of the Krakow air museum is the combination of past and modernity. You can admire the exhibits from the beginning of the 20th century through the multimedia and modern technology.

 

Attractions Krakow aviation museum

There are many activities in the aircraft museum Krakow can be proud of. Thanks to its educational aspect, it’s a very good idea to visit the place with the children. They can learn about the aviation history and have a good time at the same time. Inside the educational room called Aerolaboratorium, you can find a flight simulator and try your luck as a pilot. For the older ones, there is also a possibility to spin inside the gyroscope. The rich offer of workshops and lesson for children and teenagers is available through the whole year.

In the polish aviation museum in Krakow you will have a chance to sit in the library or go for a movie projection in the cinema. Additionally, there are a lot of performances going on. The wide range of activities won’t let you get bored for sure.

The area of the museum has wide strolling paths and a lot of benches. It is also adapted for the wheelchairs.

 

How to get there

You can get to the Krakow aviation museum easily by public transport:

Public transport from the Main Station stop (Basztowa street): take the tram no. 4 (Wzgorza Krzeslawickie direction) and get off at MUZEUM LOTNICTWA stop.

You can get to the MUZEUM LOTNICTWA stop by these trams: 4 (Bronowice – Wzgórza Krzesławickie) , 9 (Nowy Bieżanów – Pleszów , 10 (Pleszów – Łagiewniki) , 52 (Czerwone Maki P + R – Wzgórza Krzesławickie).

There is no public parking in the area of the Museum. Only persons with disabilities and ID are entitled to leave their cars in front of the museum’s main entrance.

Tuesday 9:00 am – 5:00 pm, free entrance day for the permanent exhibitions.
Wednesday – Sunday 9:00 am – 5:00 pm

Ticket office closes 30 minutes before museum’s closing time.
