A family of famous Krakow gardeners. Karol came to Krakow in 1857 from Opole Silesia, brought by Count. Piotr Moszczynski, for whom he established an English park and a flower garden at his palace in Lubicz. He was educated in gardening in Germany and England. Karol’s son, also a gardener, and like his father, he studied in the same countries. He bought 20 morga of land in Rakowice and set up a nursery for fruit and ornamental trees and a flower seed breeding farm. At the same time, he opened a flower and seed shop in the Sukiennice. The shop existed until 1939, it was run by her sister Emilia, and then by her daughter with her husband, Eng. Kamberski. He popularized many varieties of vegetables and flowers in Krakow, educated many young gardeners, and was awarded in many countries for his breeding. He married Anna Kałużyńska, an artist from Warsaw performing in Krakow theaters. After Ludwik’s death, the company was run by his brother Emil, also a gardener. He improved the horticultural and seed farm and nurseries. He started exporting beet and clover seeds.
