Madonna with a braid

Madonna with a braid is a Gothic sculpture from the turn of the 14th and 15th centuries depicting the Madonna. It was discovered in 1970 during adaptation and conservation works in the basement of the house no. 4 at Mały Rynek in Krakow, which is located next to the Main Square. First workers found only one piece, and later, after examining the entire wall, the remaining 39 pieces were discovered. The sculpture has valuable parts of the original polychrome, incl. pyrethrum and a thick, heavy braid. There are also traces of the crown on the head. Madonna is kept at the National Museum in Krakow.
