Mrożek Sławomir

Mrożek Sławomir was a playwright, prose writer, satirist and cartoonist. He was born in 1930 in Borzęcin. He studied at the Faculty of Architecture at the Jagiellonian University and at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow. He worked as a journalist in the newspapers “Dziennik Polski” and “Echo Krakowa“, he also published his works in “Życie literackie”, “Przekrój” and “Tygodnik Powszechny”. Mrożek lived in Krakow but later also in Warsaw, Italy, Paris and Mexico.

His plays are performed in all theaters in Poland and in many theaters around the world. In 1990, the International Sławomir Mrożek Festival was held in Krakow, in which Mrożek and many other artists participated. Mrożek also became an Honorary Citizen of Krakow. He died in 2013 in Nice, France.
