Friedlein August

Watchmaker, son of Jan Jerzy Fryderyk and brother of Daniel Edward. Born and died in Kraków in 1808-1891. He did not follow the path trodden by the family, but he learned the profession of a watchmaker, achieving a two-time championship in this profession. He produced wall and standing clocks, signed on a clock face, distinguished by good mechanisms and beautiful frames. Some models were equipped with a system that played folk or religious songs.
In the National Museum in the “Catalog of the Antique Clocks Exhibition” published in 1938, a Friedlein clock in a wooden frame with a Chinese motif is reproduced.
