Cycling in Krakow

Krakow is becoming more and more welcoming to cyclists. People living in Krakow every day often choose to ride a bike to avoid wasting time in traffic jams. Among visitors cycling in Krakow is becoming a very popular way of sightseeing.

Krakow has a lot to offer in terms of cycling paths. From narrow, quaint streets of the Old Town and Kazimierz Jewish Quarter, to long Vistula boulevards to many natural paths near Tyniec Abbey.

Krakow bike tours

Renting a bike to do sightseeing or booking a cycling tour with a guide is a great way to discover the city. Although most of Krakow landmarks are located within the Old Town, riding a bike gives a lot more opportunities to see places often neglected by tourists, but worth a visit.

Cycling on Vistula Boulevards is always a great idea

Krakow bike rentals can be found in several places around the city centre. Most often you do not need to book bikes in advance. All year round you can simply walk in and rent a bike for as long as you need. There are also guided biking tours available offered by some of Krakow tourist agencies.

Cycling in Krakow

There are several very popular cycling paths in Krakow. For a leisure ride, people often choose Vistula boulevards. That way, you can reach the westernmost parts of Krakow, around Tyniec Abbey and the easternmost parts of Krakow. A little up north from the eastern part of the boulevards is located the district of Nowa Huta which also offers nice cycling paths. In Nowa Huta, you can visit the medieval St. Bartholomew Church and great examples of socialist-realist architecture near Central Square.

More advanced in Krakow cycling paths are located in Wolski Forest

For more advanced cyclists there are great routes in Wolski Forrest near Kosciuszko Mound that stretches as far as to Tyniec Abbey. If you are up for a longer and more demanding journey, you can also try covering the Eagles’ Nests Trail by bike.
