Krakow Jazz Autumn

Krakow Jazz Autumn is a yearly festival organised from September till December in Alchemia club in Kazimierz. The cosy atmosphere of the place provides intimate surroundings for musical meetings of the greatest artists of contemporary improvised music. The first edition took place in 2006 and from then on the festival has extended its repertoire and impact of the world of free jazz.

Each subsequent edition brought to Krakow artists of international renown as well as raising stars of free jazz. It is the basic idea of organising this event. The organisers aim to present a niche music genre by selecting artists in such a way that the audience has an opportunity to listen to those who are believed to make the history of free jazz and to discover new musicians.

Krakow Jazz Autumn is the only jazz festival in Poland focused exclusively on the contemporary improvised music. During previous editions of Krakow Jazz Autumn performed, amongst others,  Mats Gustafsson, Peter Brötzmann, Sonny Simmons, Satoko Fujii and Joe McPhee.
