Popiela Tadeusz

Popiela Tadeusz was not born precisely in Krakow but in nearby Nowy Sącz in 1933. On the day this article is written, he is still alive and doing great.


Tadeusz is an honored surgeon, professor of Medical Academy, then called Collegium Medicum on Jagiellonian University. He started his studies in 1955, graduated in 1961 as a Doctor of Medicine, then habilitated in 1965. On his maternity University, he climbed the career ladder. Popiela Tadeusz, during his life, held the position of assistant professor, docent of III Chair General Surgery. In 1972 become a professor of Medical Academy, was even its chancellor between 1972 and 1981.
He has completed internships in New York, Illinois, Chicago, Durham, Erlangen, Nurnberg, and more during his academic career.

On his account, he holds several (over 150!) publications not only in polish but even in German and English. Tadeusz is an activist in multiple societies, besides Polish ones, in. ex. New York Academy of Sciences, Collegium Internationale Chirurgiae Digestive, American Gastroenergolical Association. Awarded as Honorary Citizen of Texas and Minneapolis.


Popiela Tadeusz is well known not only as an excellent surgeon but also as a traveler. He is fulfilling his spare time with sightseeing the world.
