Journalist, painter, graphic artist, scenography. Born in Warsaw in 1910, died in Krakow in 1984. Father Henryk fought in the Polish Legions, then a colonel in the Polish Army. Marian graduated from law studies at the University of Warsaw. Before the war, secretary of the editorial office and graphic designer of “Wiadomości Literackie”. During the September campaign in 1939, an anti-aircraft gunner, and then, until 1941, a stage designer for the “Miniatury” theater in Lviv. In the years 1941-1945 he worked under the name of Kwaśniewski in a construction company near Radom. He was the founder and editor-in-chief of “Przekrój”. In the years 1947-1951 professor at the Department of Stage Design of the State Higher School of Fine Arts, later incorporated into the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow. He introduced the works of Tuwim, Staff, Iwaszkiewicz and Dąbrowska to the pages of his newspaper. Author of numerous drawings and texts of a very diverse nature. From 1951 he ran the column “Thoughts of the great and medium-sized people and the dog Fafik” in his newspaper. In later years, the author of the weekly last page in the newspaper “Szpilki”.
Decorated with the Officer’s Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta, the Golden Cross of Merit and others. The owner of the dog Fafik, who has become a legend in literature.
