Hukan Karol

Hukan Karol was a sculptor born in 1888 in Mikulińce in Podolia. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow and most of his sculptures are located in this city. He was one of the members of the advisory commission on the reconstruction of St. Mary’s Basilica. In this church there are carved heads of 12 apostles and 6 Polish saints. His other works can be found, for example, in the Jesuit Church on Kopernika Street, there are various valuable sculptures and 6 altars, or in the attic of the building of the National Bank of Poland (20 Basztowa Street). His other works can also be found in Warsaw, Włocławek, Sucha Beskidzka and at Jasna Góra in Częstochowa. He died in 1958.
