Crown treasury

In the ground-floor part of the royal castle, in the north-eastern corner, coronation insignia, money and valuables were kept. The treasury consists of four rooms: the ground floor, the Jadwiga and Jagiełło room, the room on the ground floor of King Sigismund III’s tower, and the Renaissance room already in the northern wing of the castle. At present, one can only wonder how great and vast riches were once there. In 1795, the Prussians broke in there, robbing, among others, the coronation insignia. Coins were minted from gold, and pearls were put up for sale.
Currently, the treasury collects and collects regalia and other national souvenirs, as well as art industry items – gold and silver utensils, clocks, medals, chalices, hats, ivory products and coronation swords.
