Kossak Pawlikowska-Jasnorzewska Maria

Kossak Pawlikowska-Jasnorzewska Maria was a poet, playwright, painter and daughter of Wojciech Kossak. She was born in Kraków in 1891. She studied mostly at home, and briefly attended the Academy of Fine Arts as a freelance student. She mainly painted flowers. She traveled to Italy, France, Turkey and North Africa.

In 1922 she published a book of poems “Blue Almonds” (Polish: “Niebieskie Migdały”), later more volumes of poetry were published:

Maria Kossak Pawlikowska-Jasnorzewska was recognized as one of the best Polish poets. In 1937, she was awarded the Krakow City Prize and was awarded the Golden Laurel of the Polish Academy of Literature. In 1939, she moved with her husband, an aviator, to England, where she died in 1945.
