Anczyc Zygmunt was born in 1783, he was an actor, stage director, translator and writer. He was the grandson of the first of Anczyc dynasty in Poland, Johann von Anczyc and son of Jan Zygmunt Anczyc. He was studying in Wrocław, then he did military service in Austrian army, and then devoted himself to acting. First he was playing at some amateur theatres, then managed to get to the professional troupe that was performing all over Poland. In 1819 he married an actress, Barbara Hrehorowiczówna (1800 – 1891). In 1839 he was leading the acting troupe in Krakow, in 1843 he became a director of the first stationary theatre in Poznań. He has also performed in Warsaw and 1843 he became a part of Jacek Kluszewski acting troupe which made him settle in Krakow and stay there till his death in 1855.
