Sendzimir Tadeusz

A metallurgical engineer, inventor in the field of rolling, known as the Polish Bessemer, died in the USA. From the end of World War I until 1929, he lived in China, and there in Shanghai he organized and launched the first nail factory in China and a wire drawing mill. In 1930 he returned to Poland via the USA and France. His merit is the development of a method of cold rolling sheet metal. Between 1931 and 1934 he was involved in design work on cold rolling mills, as well as on two prototype devices for the continuous galvanization of cold-rolled sheets. They were put into operation for the first time in 1934 in the “Pokój” steelworks and in the “Kostucha” plant near Tychy. From the time of World War II, he lived in the USA, first he collaborated with the metallurgical concern ARMCO, and in 1956 he founded his own company, Sendzimir Company.

AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków and was awarded the Commander of the Order of Merit of the People’s Republic of Poland.
