Seweryn Tadeusz

Ethnographer, historian, painter. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts and at the Jagiellonian University. Initially, he worked as a teacher and then devoted himself to research on folklore and folk art. From 1926, he collaborated with the PAU Ethnographic Commission, from 1927 the curator, and in 1937-1965 he was the director of the Ethnographic Museum in Krakow. In 1959 he was awarded the Golden Badge of the City of Krakow. During the occupation, he was a member of the White Eagle Organization, district manager of Civil Struggle, member of the Krakow Council to Aid Jews, activist of the ROCH Regional Educational Commission. Author of over 200 scientific works, eg “Painted Krakow Chests” and others.
